Recipe For Faerywings

as was taught to me by a faery queen and a truly beautiful person, may our paths meet again.

Lavendar Fields

This is for all of you folk who saw my character at faire and asked where she got her wings...

And Lavendar Said "Why I grew them of course! Where did you get your nose?"

Ingredients

Time, Love, 3 Wire Coat Hangers,

3X or 4X Panty Hose (If you can find it in colors, all the better!),

 Electrical Tape, Elastic, Ribbon

Beads, Bells or Pretty Little Things, Fabric Paint, Thread & Needle, Imagination!

Directions

  1. First imagine what shape your wings will be. Remember that while those pointy wings look great on drawings and images of faeries they will poke the eyes of innocent people you are hugging, and we all know faeries like to hug!  Think rounded corners.  Also, I know we all want huge wings. but remember that while these are physical manifestations of our true inner self, we also need to shop at faire, or not knock over nick knacks at our hosts home, so unless you plan on spending all you time in big open fields consider the size to be only a few inches wider than you, if wider at all.

  1. Take 1 of the coat hangers and shape it.  You are going to create the top of one of your wings.  Be very careful for your eyes!  Leave the hook part alone.  Work with the curves already in the hanger, but reshape it so it does not look like a hanger, think butterflies wing, think graceful.  Try not to fight the wire, again work with it.  When you are satisfied shape another hanger to match.  Remember both sides of your face are not identical, but just closely resemble each other, so it should be with the frames of your 2 top wings.

  2. The last coat hanger will create the bottom haves of the wings, working with the wire, twist it so that you now have 2 little wing shapes.

  3. When you lay the wing frames out so they look butterfly like & if you place the 3 hooks of the hangers together it will create somewhat of a circle.  This is what you are going to tape with the electrical tape.  Tape a lot so that it will stay together forever and not poke your back.

  1. Now you put the panty hose on the frames, bring the hose over the top wing as if the top were legs, stretch it over the bottom wings and twist it over the electrical taped loop, you really can't let go while doing this part, what ends up happening in you tie the waist in a knot in the center of the wings.  Yes, they look more like wings now, don't they?

  2. The thread and need are to help the nylon stay where it should on the wire.

  3. The fabric paint is to help decorate the wings as you please.

  4. The elastic is to create 2 loops from the center of the wings to go around the front of your shoulders.  in this manner you can put the wings on like a jacket,  even slide them under sleeves so the elastic won't be seen.

  1. The ribbons are to hang from the center and pretty things are to decorate your wings.

  2. Send me photos of you in your wings and I will post them here!!!!  Or if you have questions you can email me to ask.
